Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight on the M20 southbound, between junction 12 and 13, near Cheriton, Folkestone.
Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire using hose reel jets.
Highways Agency was also in attendance to support with temporarily closing a lane.
There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.
