Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight on the M20 Londonbound, between junction 8 and 9, near Ashford.
Two fire engines attended and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the flames using hose reel jets.
One person was passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics.
The cause is not yet known.
