Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a car alight on the M2, Junction 2 near Strood.
Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire using a hose-reel jet.
There are no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is believed to have been an engine fault.
