The earlier advice for residents in Greenhithe and Swanscombe to close windows and doors due to smoke, has been lifted. Please share this information with loved ones in the affected area who may not have access to the internet. 

Crews have made good progress in tackling the fire, which covered around five hectares of grassland on Swanscombe marshes, and are now damping down hot spots.

There are no reported injuries, and the cause is not yet known.

People living in Greenhithe and Swanscombe are still advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke from a fire on Swanscombe Marshes.

Six fire engines are now in attendance, and crews are tackling approximately three hectares of grassland alight.
