Being a Procurement Assistant

Are you an organised administrator with a keen eye for detail and a talent for working with data? Do you enjoy providing excellent customer service and supporting colleagues to deliver great outcomes?

As our Procurement Assistant, you’ll provide essential administrative and commercial support to our Procurement Team, helping us deliver efficient, compliant and value-for-money procurement across Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

Working across all procurement categories, you’ll support a wide range of activities including spend analysis, maintaining supplier and contract information, assisting with tendering exercises and helping ensure procurement information is published in line with legislation.

What you’ll do

  • Provide administrative support to the Procurement Team across a range of procurement activities.
  • Produce spend reports and maintain supplier, product and contract information.
  • Manage the Procurement Helpdesk inbox and telephone enquiries.
  • Support tendering and contract management activities.
  • Coordinate meetings, maintain team records and update procurement information.
  • Help ensure procurement information is published accurately and in line with legislative requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience providing administration support in a busy office environment.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with data.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work proactively.
  • A willingness to learn and contribute to improving processes and delivering excellent service.
