M20 closed junctions 8 - 9 due to vehicle fire

Update: Fire crews used a main jet and compressed air foam to extinguish a lorry fire on the M20 . Two fire engines and a bulk water carrier attended the scene and were able to use the cordoned off hard shoulder to access the incident. Firefighting was concluded at 1.20pm and crew remained at the scene for approximately 45 minutes more to assist Highways England to contain a large spillage of diesel fuel from the vehicle. There were no casualties._______________________________________________________________________________________Emergency services have been sent to the scene of a lorry fire on the London-bound carriage way of the M20 between junction 9 and 8, within an area of road works. Both coast-bound and London-bound carriageways have been closed to allow emergency vehicle access to this incident. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. Delays are expected while this incident is dealt with.
