30+ Incident Friday 05 April 2019 18:23
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was called to Marlowe Road, Larkfield at 5.23pm to reports of smoke seen around an oven. When firefighters arrived, they found that the 999 call had been made by a KFRS off-duty trainee firefighter, who had been called to the house to investigate by a neighbour. Although the oven was off, the trainee firefighter could see smoke coming from the rear of the oven, he switched the power off before alerting KFRS colleagues.Crews removed the cooker and burnt boards to the back garden. They also carried out a safe and well visit and provided safety advice. It is believed a fault had caused a small fire to start behind the oven. The property had working smoke alarms that had been fitted previously by KFRS.
