Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire believed to have been caused by an electric heater in a commercial property near Brookfield Court in Ashford. Two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. A high pressure fan was used to clear the building of smoke. Staff were evacuated and there were no reported injuries. Firefighters are advising people who own electric heaters to ensure they are serviced regularly and are kept a safe distance from furniture, clothing or curtains to reduce the risk of fire.
