Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight on the driveway of a property in St James Close on the Isle of Grain. Two fire engines were initially dispatched to investigate, however further calls giving more detail about the fire meant that two additional fire engines were sent to the scene. When the first two fire engines arrived at the scene, and crews immediately set about tackling the blaze, with firefighters wearing breathing apparatus attacking the fire with a pair of high-pressure hose reel jets, a main jet and a fog spike (a system used to reduce fire temperature from outside a building by punching small holes in a wall or ceiling).Unfortunately, due to the location of the vehicle that caught alight, flames had spread to the adjacent house, causing damage on both the ground and first floor of the property. The vehicle was destroyed by the flames, but thankfully there are no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but deliberate action is suspected, so Kent Police has been informed and the incident will be investigated.
