Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of two people stranded in a boat on the River Medway in Chatham. It’s believed one man fell into the water near Sun Pier and was thrown a life ring by a bystander before managing to reach a buoy. Another member of the public took a boat out in an attempt to rescue him but was unable to row back due to the boat taking on water. A crew from KFRS’ water safety unit attended, as well as two fire engines, and used a boat to bring the pair back to shore. Both were passed into the care of SECAmb.
