Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a car alight on the M20, in-between Junction 9 for Ashford and Junction 8 for Hollingbourne, Maidstone. Two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. While in attendance, crews were called to a second incident on the same stretch of the motorway, involving a camper van on fire. Firefighters used compressed air foam to put the fire out. No casualties were reported. Patrols from National Highways also attended to manage road closures while crews worked at the scene. All lanes have been reopened.
