Two fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to put out the flames.

There were no reported injuries.

It’s believed the fire started in a tumble dryer.

Following this incident, crews are reminding people to:

  • Make sure appliances are in good working order before using them - for example a tumble dryer, dishwasher or washing machine and to make sure they are regularly maintained as instructed in the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Only run cycles when you’re home and awake and remember to have a working smoke alarm on each floor of your property.
