Incident
Disused boat pontoons set alight in boat yard - Queenborough, Isle of Sheppey
Incident details
Fire crews were called to reports of smoke and flames issuing from around two tonnes of disused wooden boat pontoon platforms at a boat yard in Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey.

Firefighters worked with the site owner and provided boundary cooling to prevent the fire spreading, while allowing it to burn out under control. This helped to prevent further environmental damage to the surrounding area, including Queenborough Creek, due to other materials such as polystyrene being involved in the fire.

There are no reports of any injuries and a report suggesting the possibility of malicious ignition has been passed to Kent Police. The site was left in the care of its owner.
