Thatched roof fire - Wilmington near Dartford
Update: 8.30am Fire crews successfully contained the blaze to the front section of the roof of the two-storey property, after fire broke out.
The property was safely evacuated and there were no injuries.
At it’s height, six fire engines and specialiast vehicles attended the scene. The fire, is believed to have started accidentally by electrics in roof space and spread to the thatch roof. Crews worked hard to limit the spread resulting in only 10 per cent of the roof space being damaged by fire. The fire was extinguished by 11.21pm but crews remained at the scene cutting away and checking for hot spots using a thermal imaging camera. They handed duty of care back to the management of the building just after 12.30am.
Approximately 35 firefighters are at the scene of a fire in a building of two floors. The fire is located in a thatched roof and crews wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reels to tackle the blaze. There are no reports of any injuries.
