Incident
Tree fire spreads to fence and outbuilding in Gravesend
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a large tree alight on Dickens Road in Gravesham.

Two fire engines rushed to the scene and on arrival crews found the fire spreading rapidly to a garden fence and outbuilding. Firefighters used a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze and prevent the fire from spreading to the house. There were no reported casualties and the cause is believed to be accidental, possibly due to a nearby bonfire not being fully extinguished.

Following the incident, crews are urging the public to keep bonfires, fire-pits and barbecues away from buildings, fences, trees and overhanging branches. Once you have finished with them, always ensure they’re fully cooled and extinguished.
