Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Roof fire in Broadstairs house
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in the roof of a home in Edge End Road, Broadstairs. All occupants of the property were out when the firefighters arrived. Using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets, crews entered the property to tackle the blaze. Firefighters also used fog spike to effectively tackle the fire through the tiling. A height vehicle was also used to give crews an effective vantage point to tackle the fire from the outside. The cause of the fire isn't known at this stage. The roof suffered extensive damage and was 25% destroyed by the blaze, two bedrooms suffered extensive water damage. The Red Cross Volunteers were also in attendance to offer the occupants welfare and emotional support.
