Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Crews tackle fire at Allington recycling plant
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire at a recycling plant on Laverstoke Road, Allington in Maidstone. On arrival, wearing breathing apparatus, crews found a smoke logged 3 storey building measuring 150 metres x 100 metres. All personnel had been safely evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire service. The building is used as a waste recycling plant and the fire is located in one of the large silos on site, containing various metals. Crews used main jets and thermal imaging cameras to tackle the blaze. The crews were assisted by the extractor fans on site to clear smoke. Nobody was injured during the fire.
