Incident
Field fire in Ashford
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a field fire on Waltham Road in Ashford. Four fire engines were sent to the scene and firefighters arrived to around two hectares of grassland alight. Crews used hose reel jets, a fog spike and beaters to fully extinguish the blaze. No casualties were reported and the fire is believed to have spread from a nearby bonfire.

Following the fire, firefighters are reminding the public to build bonfires well clear of any trees, foliage, and property, and to never leave it unattended. Once you are finished with the bonfire, dampen it down fully with water to ensure the fire is out.
