Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire in a domestic property on Byron Road in Gillingham. Four fire engines and a height vehicle were sent to the scene, and crews arrived to smoke issuing from the top floor and roof area of the building. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet, a high pressure fan, and water from a hydrant to extinguish the fire.
One person was passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance paramedics as a precaution due to smoke inhalation. The cause has not yet been confirmed.
