Large outbuilding fire in Maidstone

Update: 15:50pm 
Firefighting operations at the scene of a barn fire on Upper Fant Road in Maidstone have now been completed. Crews have left the scene and duty of care has been handed back to the land owner. 
Kent Fire and Rescue Service is responding to a large outbuilding fire on Upper Fant Road in Maidstone. At its height, four fire engines and a bulk water carrier were in attendance, and crews arrived to a barn containing bales of straw well alight. Crews have been working throughout the morning using main jets, compressed air foam and water from a hydrant to bring the blaze under control. Residents living or working nearby have also been advised via social media to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke. 
The incident was reduced to one fire engine at around 3:26am and crews are making steady progress in extinguishing the fire. No casualties have been reported and the exact cause is not yet known.
