Incident
Firefighters tackle Bredgar barn fire
Incident details
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Wrens Road, Bredgar (Sittingbourne) to reports of an open sided barn, containing baled hay that was well alight. Crews used compressed air foam (CAFs) to tackle the blaze.

CAFs uses less water than traditional firefighting methods, is more environmentally sensitive but provides rapid fire knockdown. It was sprayed on neighbouring properties to form a protective layer and prevent the fire spreading.

Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier initially responded to this incident but it was reduced to two pumps at 4am. One crew remains at the scene keeping a watching brief since 7am.
