Dartford flat fire - further update

Kent Police has confirmed that a man in his 70s died following a fire at sheltered accommodation in Barn End Lane, Wilmington, Dartford, this morning, Sunday 11 June 2017. Next of kin have been informed and a report is being compiled for the coroner.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this time.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is being investigated.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious fire at a two-storey building used as sheltered accommodation in Barn End Lane, Wilmington. Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 7.39am this morning (11 June) and eight fire engines were sent to the incident. Crews wearing breathing apparatus put out a fire in a flat using hose reels and main jets. Several other flats sustained smoke logging, which has now been cleared. Crews rescued five occupants from the premises. A number of residents were able to remain in their homes. KFRS attendance at the incident has now been scaled down and SECAmb remain at the scene assessing a number of patients. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
