Fire engines at the scene have now been reduced from four to two, and firefighters are damping down and turning over remaining hot spots.

Update at 0840, 10/05/18:
Crews are making good progress and the number of fire engines at the scene has been reduced from six to four. This is a deep seated fire and firefighters expect to remain on site for some hours to come. Crews are using equipment to drag the burning material from the fire zone and reach hot spots, and main jets are being used to attack the blaze. Fan sprays are being used to prevent smoke from spreading to the surrounding areas.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a large fire at a recycling centre on Goddington Road, Ashford. A response of six fire engines and a bulk water carrier were sent to the scene, firefighters used breathing apparatus, ground monitors, main hose jets and positive pressure ventilation fans to separate, remove and extinguish the burning materials.
Crews remain at the scene.
