Kent Fire and Rescue Service attends a range of incidents including fires, road crashes, flooding, rescues from height, mud or confined spaces. It also supports other agencies including Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Martime and Coastguard Agency on a regular basis.

Rubbish fire in Herne Bay
Incident details
Update 1535: 
 
Firefighting work is now complete and crews have left the scene of a large rubbish fire in Thornden Wood Road, Herne Bay. 
 
One fire engine attended and crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. 
 
No casualties were reported. 
 
The earlier advice to close windows and doors has now been lifted.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is currently at the scene of a large rubbish fire on Thornden Wood Road in Herne Bay. 
 
One fire engine is in attendance and crews are using main jets to tackle the blaze. 
 
Those living or working nearby are being advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution, due to smoke.
