Firefighters tackle large field fire in Higham, Rochester

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Lower Rochester Road in Higham, near Rochester, to reports of approximately 10 hectares of standing corn alight. At the height of the blaze, six fire engines, a bulk water carrier, a technical rescue unit, and two all-terrain vehicles were sent to scene.

Crews have worked to bring the fire under control, and the incident has now been scaled down to three fire engines and an all-terrain vehicle. Firefighters are damping down remaining hotspots. 

There are no reported casualties and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
