Fire station open days return for spring

25 March 2024

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) is inviting people to book open day tickets for an afternoon of fun and fire safety.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) is opening its bay doors to the public for the return of its popular fire station open days.

Stations hosting this year’s free spring events are:

•   Eastchurch – Thursday 11 April
•   Dover – Friday 12 April
•   Marden – Saturday 13 April

Families, friends, and neighbours are welcome to attend the local events, which will be full of fun activities, including an activity trail, The Byrnes Family show, and the opportunity to jump aboard a fire engine and meet the crew.

Each open day will run from 2pm to 4pm, and tickets are free but must be booked in advance.

KFRS Group Manager, Steve Burwell, said: “We really look forward to our open days, as they’re a great opportunity to welcome the public into their local station, meet our fantastic teams, and most importantly, learn about staying safe.

“To make sure these events are enjoyable and accessible for everyone, if anyone in your group has additional needs, you can come along 30 minutes earlier to avoid the crowds. Please just email events@kent.fire-uk.org to let our organisers know.”

Before attending, people are advised to note the following:

  • You are welcome to bring your own food and drink to the event, there will however be limited space for sitting to eat.
  • There may be a photographer on-site, so please speak to the registration team if you would prefer not to be photographed.
  • Many activities will be held outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
  • There will be no on-site parking available due to the venue being a working fire station.
  • Stations are not always large buildings, so there may be limited access to toilet and baby changing facilities.
  • The open days are held at working fire stations and there is a chance that sirens may sound loudly during the day. We ask that you always stay close and supervise your children.
